AI in Italian SMEs: what really works
After integrating AI in production, here's what works and what doesn't.
What works:
- RAG chatbot answering based on company knowledge base (FAQs, documents, products).
- Automatic email/ticket classification (correct routing to the right department).
- Data extraction from unstructured documents (invoices, contracts, CVs).
- Summaries and prioritization of large text volumes.
What doesn't work (or needs care):
- "Generic chatbot doing everything" without specific context → can't distinguish.
- Autonomous decisions in critical domains (legal, medical, financial) → always needs human oversight.
- Replication of complex "company style" → requires expensive fine-tuning.
